Our unique clinic fosters an environment that promotes state-of-the-art strategies and continuity of care. This approach may help to bridge care gaps in the management of asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) that are know to exist between primary and specialty care providers which in turn may serve to limit the utilization of effective treatments.

During the last 17 years the Primary Care Lung Clinic (PCLC) has developed a reputation as a leader in promoting lung health at the primary care level. Our commitment to early diagnosis and treatment of asthma and COPD, patient education, medical education and clinical research has earned us a reputation of excellence both locally and internationally. Many new therapies have become available in the last 17 years that have affected many patients very positively in terms of improvements in quality of life. The PCLC has played an active role in the research of many of these new and effective therapies for asthma and COPD that are now available in local pharmacies. Dr. Anthony D. D’Urzo

Dr. Anthony D’Urzo is an Associate Professor in the Department of Family and Community Medicine, Faculty of Medicine, University of Toronto and has spent many years teaching in the department. He has been a volunteer member of the Lung Association since 1992. Dr. D’Urzo has had the opportunity to publish numerous articles in the area of asthma and COPD management. He has been the Director of the Primary Care Lung Clinic since 1993 and is currently the Chair and Co-Founder of the Primary Care Respiratory Alliance of Canada (PCRC). His professional goal is to promote lung health in primary care. During his free time, he enjoys physical fitness, reading and spending time with his family.
